Photo Code
Understand and manage the Photo Code on your Timemark photos.
Every photo taken with Timemark includes a unique Photo Code, a 14-character alphanumeric code printed on the side of the photo (for example K4LW9MQ3XB6N2P).
The Photo Code links the photo to capture data generated by Timemark, such as recorded time and location. Use it to verify a photo.
Photo Codes do not expire. A valid code can continue to verify the photo unless the related verification record has been deleted or Timemark can no longer verify it for another reason.

How Photo Codes are generated
Section titled “How Photo Codes are generated”You never have to create a Photo Code yourself. The app keeps a ready supply:
- Codes are generated on Timemark’s servers and delivered to your phone in batches.
- The app stores these unused codes in a local pool.
- On launch (and when you sign in), if the pool is running low, the app fetches a new batch automatically.
- Each photo consumes one code, and the watermark immediately refreshes with the next code so your next photo is always ready.
Turn Photo Code on or off
Section titled “Turn Photo Code on or off”The Photo Code is on by default. We strongly recommend keeping it on. Without it, Timemark cannot run Photo Code verification for those photos.
To turn it off:
- Open Timemark and tap the menu button (the three lines) in the top-left to open the sidebar.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Photo Code.
- Toggle it off and tap Turn Off to confirm.
Delete a Photo Code record
Section titled “Delete a Photo Code record”Photo Code records do not store a user identifier. If you want Timemark to delete the time, location, or other verification data stored for a Photo Code, email privacy@timemark.com with the Photo Code or enough information to locate the record. Deleting the record may make that photo unable to verify.
Common pitfalls
Section titled “Common pitfalls”- If you’re offline and the local code pool is empty, new photos won’t get a Photo Code until the app reconnects and fetches more.
- Turning the Photo Code off means Timemark cannot run Photo Code verification for those photos. Keep it on unless you have a specific reason.
